From Gratefulness to Great Fullness
Last month, I started a prosperity practice and soon found myself in prayer making vows to be grounded in gratefulness.
“In sickness and in health, in poverty and in wealth, may I give thanks to the Cosmic Creator of all that is.”
My mantra over the past 40 days has been Sa Re Sa Sa. That Infinite Totality is here, everywhere. That creativity of God is here, everywhere. I was into it initially as a prosperity practice. What I found was a life already flourishing right in front of me. Not long into my experience with this meditation, coupled with 11 recitations of the 25th Pauri a day, I noticed all of my intentions to “manifest prosperity” had turned into prayers of gratitude. Yogi Bhajan said prayer is the ray of your soul. He said, "God is our help, the only power we have is prayer, and the worth of life is just the grateful moments we live." The power of prayer isn’t in controlling the outcomes. It’s in the alignment of your consciousness and the Infinite consciousness. It's in using your projection to put the whole universe behind you as you continue to show up and do the work.
Prayer is universal. It allows time and space to be in remembrance of the One that is the gift giver of your many attitudes - your longitude and latitude. Your presence here. Your breath. Your life. All the beauty. Your friends. Your family. All your moments, and both the positive and negative impressions of your heart. The totality of YOU. Without the blessings of polarity, your life would be like the day without night, the sun without a shadow to sit in and appreciate the shine; incomplete. Nothing would be learned, nothing would be earned and it’d be a burn out. As John Steinbeck put it, “how can one know color in perpetual green, and what good is warmth without cold to give it sweetness?” The cycles of self deepen our understanding of our emotions, how we use them and how they use us. Sometimes tragedies come that rock the perceived trajectory of our life. But beneath these layers of life lies a boundless, bountiful and beautiful essence. Abundance is always here, because you are abundant. Prosperity is always here, because you were made pure. Let prayers of gratitude be the constant that get you out of the gutter - over and over. Let prayers of gratitude be the way to leave behind feelings of lack. With all that comes your way, hold space for thankfulness in your heart. What a rare chance it is to be alive, a divine incarnation, Creation of Creation. All that you are is a gift. All that you have is from the giver. Experience and be grateful for it all. That is the key to prosperity. That is the worth of life. That is the richness. Guru Nanak gave it to us. In Japji it is written, "One who is blessed to sing the praises of God is spiritually the richest person in the world."

One morning about halfway through my 40 day practice, I was riding my bike and had this incredible feeling of ever-expansive freedom. It was like watching fog fade into the sunrise, internalized. This doesn't happen every morning, or every time I get on my bike. Sometimes it does. And thank God for those times that have provided me the knowing this ecstasy exists in me. I'll take them. Throughout our lives, we’re gifted these beautiful reminders of how to truly be alive in moments that we bring all our presence into. Moments of clarity. Flashes of light, coming and going. Just be still in gratitude for each glimpse. The weight from layers of life will be swept away like dust from a shelf, from an old identity of self, if you learn to respond with gratefulness for all the places you’ve been and the place that you currently are. The places you'll end up will be those of your dreams and destiny. Gratefulness will give you great fullness. Greatness will be your achievement. Even on days you feel you've fallen from your grace, forgive yourself and be thankful for your capacity to. Everything is a blessing to the evolution of your consciousness and understanding of Self. Give thanks for all that you are and all that you have, even when you don't think it's been enough. That's the way. That's my way, these are lessons my own soul continues to learn as it makes its way home. I'm not saying it to sound good or like I know more. It's my experience with it. I wouldn't know it any other way.
“May I bow in my heart at all times and in all places, under the moon and all its phases, in reverence for all I have and continue to receive in this lifetime.”
Sharing this, it’s my prayer that gratitude become your constant companion, regardless the circumstances your soul may face. Respond, “thank you God.” As you step further into this grace, your gratefulness, your greatness, you will develop a boundless base to expand upon. Not to expand more into your own self-identifications, but to expand more into God - the God in you. The G.O.D. The Generating, Organizing and Destroying capacity to create a life you fall deeper in love with every day. Every breath is a blessing. With each inhale you have this opportunity to inspire yourself - to breathe life into the dream of being prosperous and peaceful people walking gently on the planet. Meditate on that. Pray on it. Breathe deeply. That's life. With each release let us develop a deeper reverence for all that we already have, all that we already are, and all that we already know, and let us use it for the goodness of all. Keep going, further into the endless blessing of the unknown. And may you accept it and receive it all with angelic grace, so that your soul soars in elevation for eternity. Sat Nam.
“May I fall deeper into the depths of wisdom my soul holds, and with each new awareness, may I pause to thank God for illuminating it in me.”
